Distribution Center Manager

Location: Wilmington, MA

Founded in 1916, New England Coffee is one of the largest independent coffee roasters in the Northeast. We not only service our community with the best coffee around but our coffee can be found in retail store locations around the country. Our headquarters is in Malden, MA and our Distribution Center is located in Wilmington, MA.

We are currenlty seeking a strong Distribution Center Manager to lead the Distribution and Warehouse operations in Wilmington.

Job Summary: The Distribution Center (DC) Manager implements procedures to improve quality, safety, efficiency and productivity within the Distribution Center. Providing strong direction and leadership, this individual will develop employees, manage processes and ensure compliance to various standards & metrics, while driving continuous improvement projects.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Directly leads all employees within the distribution center team ensuring all are properly trained to effectively perform their job responsibilities
  • Drives and monitors departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and constantly strives for improvement
  • Sustains long term strategic inventory control and warehousing processes to maximize profitability, cash flow and customer satisfaction
  • Ensures a high level of inventory accuracy
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships and communication with marketing, customer service, quality assurance, production, and corporate resources
  • Develops and retains heightened safety awareness and practices to ensure no incidents or lost time accidents
  • Ensures documentation, including all necessary DOT documentation is completed, submitted, and maintained in an orderly and timely manner
  • Operates within the parameters of the annual budget, responsible to operate and manage cost center P&L
  • Successfully passes all regulatory, customer and third-part audits/inspections
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by staying up to date with all work processes and industry-wide developments
  • Follows all safety procedures and actively participates in safety training and safety system ownership initiatives
  • Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury, accident, or unsafe condition to plant manager immediately
  • Supports and complies with GMP’s; understands and follows emergency action plan
  • Supports food safety, quality, and legality
  • Maintains a highly sanitized, organized, and safe working environment ensuring the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience: The minimum requirements below are representative of the education and experience required to perform this job successfully.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations or related business field
  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing, coaching, and developing a collaborative team in a high volume, fast paced distribution center with the ability to lead change within the department and process

  • Advanced proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (D365), Planning/ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX), and Transportation Management Systems (AR Traffic)
  • Intermediate computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT with the ability to learn new software and systems with ease
  • Superior planning and analytical skills
  • Organized with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment a plus
